Behavior & Engagement: Proactive Supports That Prevent Problems

April 11 @ 8:30 am - 2:30 pm
Virtual Event
$149.00

Training Description:

This session focuses on equipping teachers with practical, proactive behavior and engagement strategies that support ESE students while strengthening classroom management for all learners.  Participants will explore the concept of behavior as communication and examine how unmet academic, social, emotional, or sensory needs often drive challenging behaviors in inclusive settings. The session emphasizes Tier 1, evidence-based practices-such as clear expectations, consistent routines, visual supports, active supervision, and positive reinforcement-that reduce the likelihood of behavior issues before they occur. Teachers will also learn strategies to support self-regulation and executive functioning, including structured transitions, choice-making, and explicit teaching of replacement behaviors. Through real-world classroom scenarios and guided problem-solving, participants will practice identifying triggers, adjusting instructional or environmental factors, and responding in ways that maintain student dignity while keeping instruction moving.  The session concludes with guidance on when and how to collaborate with ESE staff, counselors, and administrators to ensure students receive timely and appropriate support, reinforcing a shared responsibility for student success across the inclusive classroom.

  • Educators will receive 5.5 ESE in-service points.
  • Training takes place from 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM EST, with a half-hour lunch.
  • Cost:  $149/teacher
